In a recent study of acute stroke patients, the MindPod Dolphin immersive approach led to similar changes in Fugl-Meyer Upper Extremity and ARAT measurements compared to a dose-matched control intervention focused on high-intensity, high-quality therapy of movement.
The results of MindPod and the control intervention were superior to standard treatment therapy with respect to ARAT but not Fugl-Meyer. A larger study, funded by the New Zealand government, is about to start in Auckland, targeting patients just a week after the stroke.
