FNIRS DEVICE
OctaMon (optimized for prefrontal measurements) and OctaMon+ (applicable to any part of the head) are ideal for capturing brain activity while having the freedom to carry out daily activities, including exercise. Like the PortaLite, the OctaMon measures changes in oxygenation in terms of oxyhemoglobin, deoxyhemoglobin and total hemoglobin. This device can be applied in a variety of dynamic settings as often required in neuroscience and sport science research.
Applications of Octamon
The OctaMon Research Package makes monitoring oxygenation easy and affordable. Hyperscanning (monitoring multiple subjects at the same time) is also possible with OctaMon, while our software allows combining different NIRS devices into one data stream. The subjects are able to perform physical activities such as walking or running, while the device is connected to the laptop's Bluetooth (range of up to 100 meters).
OctaMon is ideal for investigating cognitive functions, especially during dual tasks (eg combined with driving or walking). The prefrontal regions of the brain are studied in particular in working memory or attention tasks, but they are also of particular interest for the study of neuropathological disorders such as Alzheimer's disease or ADHD. This is due to its strong interconnection with deeper brain regions such as the basal ganglia. The headband covers a large area of the brain, so it can also be used to detect epileptic seizures. The OctaMon has a very comfortable headband and flat options to maximize comfort.
For all other measurements, we have the OctaMon+ which has been optimized to measure through hair. It has a head cap that covers the entire brain, to give you maximum freedom where you want to place the optodes. It is usually the visual, motor, or parietal cortex. But of course you don't have to limit yourself to that!

Software
All of our devices come with OxySoft. OxySoft is our dedicated software application used to collect, store, view and analyze all necessary OxyMon data. This user-friendly software was developed by Artinis and is highly customizable to individual requirements. OxySoft provides real-time calculation of oxy, deoxy, total hemoglobin and TSI.
